S-Oil Science Prodigy and Culture Foundation has decided to support “International Knowledge Donation Program,” the oil company said Tuesday.

The program is organized as an extension of “Encore Korea Project,” a project for transferring overseas the on-site experience and knowledge of retired Korean veteran scientists and technologists to developing countries.

Founded in 2011, the non-profit foundation has donated about 300 million won ($270,000) so far to the Korea Technology and Research Institute, which organized the Encore Korea Project.

The donation funds will be used for establishing the integrated database of different fields of science and technology, the development of customized projects for developing countries, and overseas volunteer activities of retired scientists, the SSPCF said.

Hosting a mentoring forum on Sept. 22, the SSPCF has introduced a group of mentors consisting of retired scientists, university professors, and entrepreneurs to 40-some foreign students from China and Southeast Asian countries to help out with their studies and career-building.
