BMW Group Korea, the local importer of German automaker BMW AG, is recalling over 14,000 vehicles sold here because of faulty wiring and a defective oil pump that could impair braking, the transportation ministry said Tuesday.
The faulty wiring found in over 10,000 vehicles of 12 different types could cause a failure of various lights, including turn signals, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The recall affects a total of 11,695 vehicles, including 9,822 units of the BMW 525i produced between Feb. 21, 2007, and Dec. 17, 2009. BMW Group Korea is also recalling 2,423 units of 12 vehicle models, including 1,363 units of the BMW 528i, for the defective oil pump.
Additional information is available at BMW service centers at 080-269-2200. Free repair services will be provided from Wednesday.
Last year, BMW Group Korea sold 39,397 cars to record a 15.5 percent increase from the previous year. The figure was the highest in terms of sales here for the German carmaker. (Yonhap)
