American singer-songwriter John Mayer, scheduled to stage his first concert in Korea this month, has expressed his sympathy for the victims of the deadly Korean ferry sinking.

Mayer revealed on his Twitter on Tuesday that he has been contemplating ways to provide aid and support for the victims and their families of the ferry disaster.

“In Japan and loving it, but thinking about the people of Korea, my next stop. Having conversations about how we can help while there,” wrote Mayer.

John Mayer is scheduled to perform on May 6 at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul as the 14th featured artist of the Hyundai Card Culture Project series.

The series has brought acts including The Killers, Keane, John Legend, Ke$ha, Jason Mraz, Kraftwerk, Mika and Damien Rice.

Since his debut in 2001, Mayer has released several multiplatinum albums and hit singles, and has won seven Grammy Awards.

His concerns for the victims of the ferry accident came after other foreign artists expressed their condolences during concerts in Seoul.

Last week, guitar legend Jeff Beck wore a yellow ribbon for the ferry victims during his performance. Connie Talbot wore a yellow dress during her show and donated her concert’s proceeds to the families of the victims.
