Child patients from seven countries are being invited to Korea for free surgeries at nine hospitals here. The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute are inviting 25 patients to come here over the next two months for advanced medical treatment.
The invitation through the Korean Medical Charity Program aims to share Korea’s medical services with the world.
The Korean Government will cover all travel expenses for the patients and their guardians to allow them to be treated here for diseases that are difficult to cure in their home countries.
Eleven-month-old Kamel Amina Bakutjanovna from Kazakhstan, who has congenital heart disease, was the first to receive treatment under the program this year.
She received free surgery at Sejong General Hospital on Aug. 29.
Other children from countries including Mongolia, Vietnam, Russia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Egypt, will come to Korea for treatment at top-tier hospitals from now until October.
