As part of its first-string lineups, CJ Entertainment announced the Foo Fighters as one of the Ansan M Valley Rock Festival’s headlining acts, with the news of more big-time headliners to be revealed soon.
Iconic American rock band Foo Fighters will be hitting the stage at the upcoming three-day festival, which is scheduled to be held from July 24-26 in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.
The five-member band, founded by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl in 1994, has been active in the rock music scene for more than two decades and has since been nominated for 25 Grammy Awards, snagging 11 wins.
The band is still widely known for its 2007 smash hit, “The Pretender,” which reigned over the Billboard’s Modern Rock chart for a record 19 weeks and landed the members one of their Grammy wins for “Best Hard Rock Performance.”
Late last year the rockers released their latest album, “Sonic Highways,” featuring the lead single, “Something from Nothing.” The album marked the band’s first release in nearly three years.
Local talents Galaxy Express, Idiotape and Sultan of the Disco will also be performing at the upcoming Ansan M festival as part of its first-string lineup. Early bird tickets are slated to go on sale Tuesday, with a discounted price of 170,000 won for a three-day pass (originally 260,000 won). Tickets can be purchased online at interpark.com.
Idina Menzel ― the woman behind the voice of “Let it Go” in Disney’s mega-blockbuster animation “Frozen” ― will head to Seoul for a solo concert on May 30 at Olympic Park’s Olympic Hall.
As the voice of Elsa, Menzel quickly became one of the world’s hottest and most talked-about singers of 2014, with the film’s iconic “Let it Go” single dominating the Billboard’s singles chart for 13 consecutive weeks. The single also managed to hit the No. 1 spot on the local charts, which is a rare-feat for non-Korean artists.
Aside from her role in “Frozen,” the Tony Award-winning musical actress and singer-songwriter is known for her roles on the big screen as well as on Broadway, appearing in iconic musicals such as “Rent,” “Wicked” and “Aida.”
Tickets to Menzel’s upcoming performance are currently on sale with prices ranging from 77,000 won to 154,000 won for VIP seating. Tickets can be purchased online at interpark.com.
