South Korea’s leading battery maker Samsung SDI unveiled its newest high-voltage home energy storage system battery module at a tradeshow in Germany, vowing to accelerate its penetration into the growing home ESS market, the company said Thursday.

The technology enabled enlarging the battery module’s capacity by more than 20 percent by adopting innovative internal materials and the optimal design to double the energy density, the company said.

The residential ESS market is steadily growing, centering on the European market, at an average annual rate of 15 percent, according to market researcher B3.

“Samsung SDI has been attracting global customers by introducing innovative ESS battery products each year,” said Kim Jeong-wook, executive vice president at Samsung SDI. “We will solidify our position as a leading ESS battery company through differentiated technology.”
