Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation, one of the world’s most acknowledged animation houses, will give a dual lecture on cultural content and its role in the creative economy with Korean film director Bong Joon-ho on Oct. 18.

As part of CJ’s Global Creative Forum held at Daeyang Hall of Sejong University in Seoul, Katzenberg will talk about DreamWorks’ “Kung Fu Panda” series and its strategy of mixing Asian characters with Western philosophies. He will also discuss the use of cutting-edge IT in boosting the animation motion picture market with examples such as “The Little Mermaid” and “Shrek.”

Director Bong will talk about his film “Snowpiercer,” which started as a French graphic novel but ended up on the silver screen with more than 9.6 million viewers in Korea alone. They will also spill the beans about their sources of inspiration and creativity, know-how in development and the overall process of production.

Then Katzenberg will join Jennifer Yuh Nelson, director of “Kung Fu Panda 2,” as a mentor for “Dream Showcase,” where animation-major students present their works and receive advice.
