South Korean Ji Eun-hee won the LPGA championship in Taiwan on Sunday -- her first LPGA victory in eight years.

Ji cruised to take the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship in Taipei by six strokes over Lydia Ko. After shooting a bogey-free seven-under 65 in the final round at par-72 Miramar Resort and Country Club, Ji finished at 17-under 271.

This was Ji's third career LPGA win and her first since her US Women's Open victory in July 2009.

With Ji's win, South Korean golfers have now combined to win 15 of 29 LPGA tournaments this year, with four events left on the calendar. That ties the country's record for most wins in one LPGA season, set in 2015.

Ji is also the 11th different South Korean winner this season, joining Jang Ha-na, Amy Yang, Park In-bee, Lee Mi-rim, Ryu So-yeon, Kim Sei-young, Kim In-kyung, Park Sung-hyun, Lee Mi-hyang and Ko Jin-young.

Through three rounds, Ji held a six-shot lead over fellow South Korean Jenny Shin and Lydia Ko of New Zealand. Ji was never threatened, as she made the turn at 13-under thanks to three birdies, still six better than Ko.

She made another birdie at the 10th to open a seven-shot lead over Ko, who got one back with a birdie at the 11th but hardly came close the rest of the round.

A birdie at the 12th took Ji to 15-under, and the South Korean opened a seven-shot lead over Ko with a birdie at the 13th at 16-under.

Two holes later, Ji got to 17-under with her seventh birdie of the day.

Two years ago, she finished second to Ko at the same tournament. (Yonhap)
