South Korean idol group Sechs Kies inked an exclusive contract with the country's second largest star agency to make a comeback after 16 years, the agency said on Wednesday.

"We expect the new Sechs Kies will make a speedy launch, since YG chief Yang Hyun-suk was directly involved himself in the reunion deal," YG Entertainment said in a press statement.

Five of the six-member act, including Eun Ji-won, Lee Jae-jin, Kim Jae-duc, Kang Sung-hoon and Jang Su-won, signed an exclusive contract with YG. The singers are now aged 35 to 37.

Ko Ji-yong, the other member of the six-member act, did not sign the contract "for personal matters" but is open to participating in concerts and music recordings with Sechs Kies, the South Korean agency added.

Sechs Kies debuted in April 1997 to become one of two iconic K-pop boy bands of the time along with H.O.T.

ven after Sech Kies' disbandment in May 2000, the band's greatest hits, including "Hakwonbyeolgok," "Pomsang Pomsa,"

"Couple" and "Come Back," remained among the most popular songs played in 90s retro-bars in Seoul. (Yonhap)
