The 2014 edition of the Korean Film Festival will open in Beijing and Shanghai, the Korean Film Council said on Wednesday.

The fourth biennial festival, which launched in 2008, will screen 10 Korean films with a focus on helping Chinese audiences experience and understand Korean movies better.

The festival will kick off at CGV Indigo in Beijing on Aug. 27 and continue until Sept. 3, with the films being shown at different theaters, including CGV Indigo, CGV Qinghe, Lumiere Pavillions and Broadway Cinematheque MOMA. 

Korean actor Jang Geun-suk and Chinese actress Bai Baihe, who starred in the 2011 romantic comedy “Love is Not Blind,” will host the opening ceremony as the goodwill ambassadors of the festival.

Action-thriller “The Target” by director Yoon Hong-seung, who goes by the pseudonym Chang, will open the festival.

Filmmakers Kim Ji-hoon (“The Tower”), Han Dong-wook (“When a Man Loves Woman”) and Yoon Jong-chan (“Paparoti”) will also walk on the red carpet during the opening ceremony. They will have screen talks with audiences after their films run in Beijing.

Other movies to watch include “Very Ordinary Couple” by Roh Deok and “All about My Wife” by Min Kyu-dong.

The festival will move to Shanghai on Sept. 10 for screenings at Grand Cinema until Sept. 17.
