Han Bi-ya, a popular travel writer and advisor to the U.N. Central Emergency Response Fund, has been invited to give lectures to undergraduate students at Ewha Womans University as a visiting professor, the school said.

Han will give lectures to students at the department of international studies from the spring semester next year, according to the school. Ewha’s department of international studies is the first school established to nurture global-minded individuals at the undergraduate level. 

“I was impressed by the students’ passion and great interest in international cooperation and aid whenever I gave temporary lectures at the school before. Now as a visiting professor, I look forward to the passion and energy of the students again and will share my experience as much as possible with them and become their mentor,” said Han.

Han led the emergency relief team of World Vision Korea for nine years from 2001, then stopped working in World Vision to study humanitarian work at Tuft University in the U.S. She has written best-selling travel stories based on her travels around the world, which have become an inspiration to many young people in Korea.

Han was also appointed the new advisor of the U.N. fund in late September.

“We expect Han to inspire our students to become global citizens who are ready to help our neighbors around the world as well as work at international agencies in the future,” said Kim Eun-mee, professor of the international studies division.
