A video of a sea lion bobbing her head to music is garnering a lot of attention on YouTube.

In the two-minute video posted on Sunday, Ronan the sea lion appeared on camera and started to bounce her head to the song “Boogie Wonderland” and “Everybody.”

“When we first trained Ronan, we used simple repeating sound, something like a metronome. When she learned without further training, she was able to find and keep the beat in complex stimuli including music,” Peter Cook, a researcher at the University of California, said via the video.

Ronan is actually the first non-human mammal shown to be able to keep the beat with musical stimuli. The findings are published online in the APA’s latest Journal of Comparative Psychology.

일요일 업로드된 2분짜리 동영상에서 바다표범 “로난”은 팝송인 “부기 원더랜드”와 “에브리바디”에 맞춰 고개를 흔드는 모습이 나왔다.

“우리가 처음 로난을 훈련시켰을 땐 메트로놈과 같은 아주 간단한 리듬만 사용했습니다. 간단한 리듬이 익숙해진 후 그녀는 음악과 같은 복잡한 비트에 맞춰 고개를 흔들 수 있었습니다” 라고 피터 쿡 캘리포니아대학교 연구원은 전했다.
