Ex-porn star reading to LA students causes stir

COMPTON, California (AP) -- Some parents have filed complaints with the Parent-Teacher Association after a former adult film star said she read to children in a classroom at a Los Angeles County elementary school.

Sasha Grey, a 23-year-old ex-porn actress who has appeared in mainstream shows like HBO’s "Entourage," was a guest earlier this month at Compton’s Emerson Elementary School for Read Across America Day.

Grey tweeted Nov. 2 that she had spent the day reading to students in the first and third grades.

KTLA-TV quoted parents questioning whether it was appropriate to have Grey at the school. Parent Dudley Wheaton wondered why the school couldn’t find a fireman or a police officer to read to students.

Grey has not appeared in porn films in over two years. She has been a regular on "Entourage" and appeared in the 2009 film "The Girlfriend Experience."

미국 로스앤젤레스의 한 초등학교에서 전직 포르노 배우를 일일교사로 초청했다가 학부모들의 항의를 받는 소동이 벌어졌 다.

로스앤젤레스 카운티 컴프턴에 있는 에머슨 초등학교는 이달 초 '독서의 날' 행 사의 하나로 일일교사를 초청해 학생들에게 책을 읽어주도록 했는데 초청된 사람은 포르노 배우 출신인 샤샤그레이였다고 연예 전문 매체 TMZ가 12일 (현지시간) 보도 했다.

그레이는 2년 전까지 주연급 포르노 배우로 활동했으며 포르노 배우를 그만두고 지상파 TV 시리즈물에 출연하는 등 주류 배우로 변신했다.

그레이는 트위터에 "에머슨 초등학교에서 일일교사로 나섰는데 1학년과 3학년 학생들에게 재미있는 책을 읽어줬다"고 글을 올려 이런 사실이 알려졌다.

소식을 전해 들은 학부모들은 학교 측에 격렬하게 항의한 것으로 알려졌다.

학교 측은 그레이를 일일교사로 초빙한 사실이 없다고 잡아뗐지만 TMZ는 웹사이 트에 그레이가 학교에 있는 모습을 찍은 사진을 게재했다. (연합뉴스)
