Seoul is the 5th most expensive city in Asia, according to a research “Cost of Living in Asia.”

Conducted by ECA International, a global HR solution company, the data showed that the cost of living is highest in Tokyo. The other three cities pricier than Seoul were also in Japan -- Nagoya, Yokohama, and Kobe.

The research is conducted twice a year, where the criteria are focused on consumer goods like groceries, apparel, and food. Housing, automobiles, education, and utility bills are excluded.

Tokyo ranked number one not only in the Asian region, but also in the globe, followed by Oslo (Norway), Nagoya (Japan), Stavanger (Norway), Zurich (Switzerland), Luanda (Angola), and Geneva (Switzerland).

Busan ranked 10th in Asia after Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai.
