Suede

“The Best of Suede”

Almost everyone in Korea must have hummed the addictive melody “na na na na na na” of “Beautiful Ones” by Brit rock band Suede in the late-’90s. The group’s two-CD best-of album “The Best of Suede,” released May 3, features 35 songs, including “Beautiful Ones,” “Trash,” So Young,” Everything Will Flow” and “Animal Natrate.”

Lead singer Brett Anderson selected the songs himself and the group’s early lineup guitarist Bernard Butler participated in re-mastering. After disbanding in 2002 with five studio albums, Butler and Anderson reunited in Tears and then, again in Suede in 2010.

“Preghiera”

Violist Richard Yongjae O’Neill, who once consoled those racked by sadness with his album “Lachrymae” (Tears), has released his sixth solo album “Preghiera” (Prayer). The songs include pieces composed under the inspiration of prayer, popular classical pieces like “Meditation from Thais” by Massenet and lesser-known but great works like Bloch’s “Prayer.” German-Korean pianist Christopher Park and Württemberg Chamber Orchestra of Heilbronn, led by conductor Ruben Gazarian, participated in the recording. O’Neill is also to hold his recital with the orchestra, staging the songs featured in “Preghiera” on Oct. 8 at Seoul Arts Center.

Widely sought after for babies’ brain development, Mozart’s vivid melodies are unforgettable once heard. The album includes the most popular and familiar Mozart pieces for prenatal care. The 30 tracks over two CDs include Piano Sonata No. 11 K. 331 “Turkey March,” Symphony No. 40 first movement, Flute Concerto No. 1 K 313 first movement, Violin Sonata No. 34 K.378 and Piano Concerto No. 20 K.466 second movement. Another CD-set “Jazz Prenatal Care for Happy Mother” is also available.
