Gisele Bundchen expected to become 1st billionaire model

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is poised to become a billionaire, according to Forbes.

The Brazilian model is appearing in high-profile campaigns for the likes of Versace and Dior, but also earning quite a few extra by branding herself, the report said.

Bunchen has licensed her name to a number of products, including a jewelry and eco-friendly cosmetics line, and a line of sandals for Grendene. Recently, she also launched her own lingerie company.

Bundchen also earns additional money as the creative director for fashion retailer C&A's Gisele Bundchen Collection and plans to sell a stake in her Sejaa Pure Skincare company, which she founded last year.

If all goes according to plan, Forbes reports, she could become the first billionaire supermodel and Brazil's first female self-made billionaire.

4일 브라질 언론에 따르면 미국의 경제전문지 포브스는 지난주 발표한 자료를 통해 "번천이 억만장자 모델로 등장할 시기가 임박했다"고 말했다.

번천은 모델 활동에 따른 수입 외에도 자신의 이름을 딴 제품 판매로 엄청난 소득을 올리고 있다고 포브스는 전했다.

번천은 지난해 4천500만 달러(약 490억원)를 벌어들였으며, 이는 1년 전과 비교해 거의 2배 가까이 늘어난 것이다.

한편, 포브스가 평가한 모델계 '3대 수입왕'은 지젤 번천과 하이디 클룸, 케이트 모스 등이다.

모델에서 여성 사업가로 변신한 클룸은 2천만 달러(약 220억원)를 벌었고, 모델과 디자이너로 활동하는 모스의 수입은 1천350만 달러(약 150억원)였다.
