To mark the Queen's diamond jubilee in 2012, the world's biggest drinks company said it plans to produce a limited edition scotch whisky costing £100,000 ($152,465) a bottle. 

John Walker & Sons said the limited edition of 60 crystal decanters of `Diamond Jubilee Blended Scotch Whisky by John Walker & Sons` is a unique blend of whiskies distilled in 1952 and finished in a marrying cask of English oak from the Queen`s Sandringham Estate.

The Diamond Jubilee Blended Scotch Whisky by John Walker & Sons will be bottled on February 6, 2012, exactly 60 years to the day after the Queen's accession to the throne.

John Walker & Sons said it has harnessed the collective skills of some of the finest craftsmen and women, including fellow Royal Warrant holders and QEST scholars, to create exclusive pieces to accompany the whisky; a stunning showcase of craftsmanship.

`Diamond Jubilee Blended Scotch Whisky by John Walker & Sons` will be presented in a lead crystal decanter adorned with a Britannia silver collar that features a half carat diamond set by hand, and an individually numbered silver seal.

엘리자베스 2세 여왕 즉위 60주년 기념

    (런던=연합뉴스) 이성한 특파원 = 영국 엘리자베스 2세 여왕의 즉위 60주년  기 념 위스키가 1병에 10만 파운드(한화 약 1억8천500만원)에 한정 판매된다.

    조니 워커 등을 판매하는 세계적인 주류업체인 디아지오는 7일 여왕 즉위  60주 년에 맞춰 내년도에 몰트 위스키와 그레인 위스키를 혼합한 블렌디드 위스키 한정판 60병을 판매한다고 밝혔다.

    이 위스키는 여왕이 왕위에 오른 지 정확히 60년이 되는 내년 2월 6일 디아지오 사가 소유한 존 워커 & 선스 양조장에서 병입된다.

    여왕이 즉위한 1952년 스코틀랜드의 다양한 양조장에서 증류된 위스키들을 섞어 제조된다.

    여왕의 샌드링엄 영지에 있는 오크통에서 숙성된뒤 0.5캐럿짜리 다이아몬드로 장식된 크리스털 병에 담겨 수제 크리스털 잔 2개와 묶여 판매된다.

    첫번째 병은 여왕에게 증정된다.

    모든 이익금은 자선단체인 퀸 엘리자베스 장학재단에 기증돼 전통 장인들을  양 성하기 위한 기금으로 쓰인다.

    일간 텔레그래프는 조니 워커 레드 라벨이 병당 19.95 파운드인데 비해 이번 한 정판은 5천배나 높은 가격이라고 전했다.

    존 워커 & 선스의 마스터 블렌더인 짐 비버리지는 "1952년 이후 천천히 숙성된 매우 특별한 위스키"라면서 "여왕 즉위 60주년 기념품인 만큼 모든 경험을 살려  특 유의 맛을 살리겠다"고 말했다.

    1820년에 설립된 조니 워커는 엘리자베스 2세 여왕의 할아버지인 조지 5세에 의 해 왕실 공급 위스키 업자로 선정됐다.

    영국에서는 엘리자베스 2세 여왕의 즉위 60주년을 맞아 내년 6월초 4일 연휴를 실시하는 등 대대적인 기념행사를 준비중이다.
