GAPYEONG, South Korea (Yonhap) -- Police said Sunday that they have rescued one person from a group of five who jumped together into the Bukhan (North Han) River, east of Seoul, in an apparent group suicide attempt earlier in the day.
The rescued person, identified only by her family name Chang, told police that she and the four others jumped from the Shin Cheong Pyeong Grand Bridge into the Bukhan River at 5:30 a.m. after taking sleeping pills.
Chang was rescued after being found unconscious at a nearby boat yard one hour later, according to the police. After regaining consciousness, Chang told police that the five met through an Internet suicide club.
The police said they are still searching for the four others -- three men and one woman.
