Samsung Electronics Co. said Tuesday that it will release the new version of its Galaxy Tab tablet computer in Australia this month as scheduled, denying media reports that Apple Inc.'s lawsuit has prompted the Korean company to postpone sales there.

"The Galaxy Tab 10.1 model for the Australian market will be launched in August as planned," the company's spokesman Kevin Jeong said by phone.

In the latest series of legal disputes between the two mobile rivals, Apple filed a complaint on July 28 with an Australian court against Samsung.

The iPhone maker accused Samsung of copying the "look and feel" and touchscreen technology of the iPad, Bloomberg reported, citing Apple's testimony at a Sydney court in a hearing held on Monday.

The report added that Apple sought an Australian injunction and sales ban on the tablet in other countries without specifying where.

Samsung said that the latest complaint lodged by Apple in Australia will not affect its smartphone and tablet computer business in the global market, including Australia.

The two companies are embroiled in lawsuits and countersuits over patent infringements in 10 countries, which put their flagship smartphones and tablet PC products under possible court scrutiny.

The Korean electronics giant, however, agreed with Apple not to sell the U.S. version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia, which is a different model from the ones in the pipeline for Australian consumers, the company said.

"The Galaxy Tab 10.1 model, the subject of Apple's suit in Australia, was not the same version we were going to sell in the Australian market," Samsung said in a statement.
