The law firm Hanjoong LLP is differentiating its services with specialist teams that provide a “one-stop” solution for everything from consultations and suits to post-trial services.

Hanjoong operates specialist teams to deal with different types of suits ranging from civil and criminal cases to corporate and international cases that not only take legal action on behalf of the clients but also provide counsel on problems that arise after a suit is concluded.

Among the various fields the firm is involved in, Hanjoong has built up a reputation in handling inheritance cases.

To deepen its expertise in inheritance cases, it established a research center dedicated to various issues related to inheritance disputes.

According to Hanjoong, the center analyzes judicial precedents in inheritance cases in order to establish “a healthy inheritance culture” in Korea and to prevent issues that commonly occur in inheritance disputes.

“Soon after the opening, the firm took on an inheritance case for the family of a middling company. The dispute between the siblings escalated and resulted in the company going bankrupt and the benefactor’s assets being squandered,” a Hanjoong official said. According to the company it also provides lectures on issues regarding inheritance, wills and transfer of ownership of various assets at programs designed for chief executives at universities and corporations.

The official added that the company’s management became interested in preventing such cases as those involved in the case could have avoided the outcome if the benefactor had some legal knowledge.

“The will should be drawn up with the help of an expert while in good health in order to avoid legal problems and disputes between surviving family members,” Jeon Byung-sik, the firm’s CEO, said.
