President Lee Myung-bak on Tuesday shuffled three senior finance officials to fill an empty post a week after promoting first vice minister of finance Lim Jong-ryong to minister of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Shin Je-yoon, vice chairman of the Financial Services Commission, will succeed Lim, presidential spokesman Park Jeong-ha said. Shin has built financial expertise serving key posts in the Finance Ministry such as the chief of international affairs or international finance.

Lee named Choo Kyung-ho, presidential secretary for economy and finance, to replace Shin as deputy FSC chief, and made Yoon Jong-won, the Finance Ministry’s chief of economic policy, Choo’s successor.

Lee also promoted Lee Sam-kul, deputy home affairs minister, to the ministry’s second vice minister, Kim Chan, vice chief of the Cultural Heritage Administration, to head the agency, the spokesman said. Former chief of CHA Choe Kwang-sik was nominated as culture minister last week.

Lee also promoted his aide in charge of “green growth” Kim Sang-hyeop by creating a higher post for the same job.

Lee Ki-young, deputy chief of the Knowledge Information Security Industry Association, was also named as presidential secretary for new media affairs, Park said.
