Merck KGaA, a multinational pharmaceutical and chemical group, said Tuesday it is showcasing its newest components of a solar power system at a tradeshow in Germany this week.

About 950 companies and organizations from more than 100 countries gathered in Hamburg to catch up on the latest trends and developments in the burgeoning solar industry at the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, which kicked off Monday.

The German-based conglomerate is exhibiting key materials such as solar panels, etching pastes, organic semiconducting polymers and electrolytes in its lineup titled “isishape.”

“The unique concept behind ‘isishape’ offers environmentally friendly and highly efficient materials for smart and simple structuring in the photovoltaic industry,” Merck said in a statement.

“The materials are regularly used for various applications by leading solar cell manufacturers.”

Among the items on display, SolarResist is the first ink-jet solution with which producers directly print a silicon dioxide diffusion barrier, a core element of photovoltaic modules.

During the four-day event, Merck plans to host sessions to present its technology for organic photovoltaic cells and the overall portfolio, while a team of experts alongside marketing and sales representatives will introduce its products at a booth.
