ASEAN-Korea Centre is presenting a new lecture series “Know Your Southeast Asia.”

The 7th lecture series on ASEAN organized by the centre will feature talks from prominent researchers and professors on diverse cultural aspects of Southeast Asia.

Running every Thursday until Dec. 15, the lectures will be held at ASEAN Hall, on the 8th floor of the Press Center Building in downtown Seoul.

The first lecture on Nov. 10 will be on women in Southeast Asia by professor Kim Eje from Gyeongin National University of Education.

This will be followed by lectures on the region’s art by professor Kang Hee-jung of Sogang Institute for East Asian Studies on Nov. 17, on museums with professor Choi Ho-rim of Sogang Institute for East Asian Studies on Nov. 24, and on minority tribes with Cho Youn-mee who is a senior researcher at the Institute of Cross-Cultural Studies at Seoul National University on Dec. 1.

Islam in Southeast Asia will be examined with professor Oh Myung-seok from Seoul National University on Dec. 8.

The lecture series ends with a discussion on the Korean Wave in Southeast Asia and Southeast Asian Wave in Korea with professor Kim Hong-koo, director-general of the Korean Institute of Southeast Asian Studies on Dec. 15.

The lectures are free of charge but prior registration on the center’s website is required.
