Fire broke out at Naejang Temple in North Jeolla Province on Wednesday morning.

The entire part of Daeungjeon, one statue, an iron bell and three pictures are entirely lost. 165 square meter of the near mountain, Naejangsan also took fire. Even so, no one was injured since all the people in the temple were sleeping far away from the spot.

The fire in Daewoongjeon was discovered at about 2 a.m. by an officer of the temple who got an emergent call from security company. The fire was brought under control in 2 hours.

According to the CCTV record it is suspected to have started due to the detonation in the electric heater. The National Scientific, Criminal & Investigation Laboratory is going to investigate more the cause of the fire.

Naejangsa was first built in 636. Daewoongjeon which is gone by the fire was constructed in 1958. Naejangsan is also a popular place for tourists seeing maple leaves.

불길에 사라진 내장사 대웅전

전라북도 내장사에서 오늘 새벽 화재가 발생했다.

절 내부 대웅전과 불상 하나, 쇠종 하나와 그림 세 점이 소실되었다. 내장산 165제곱미터 또한 불에 탄 것으로 전해졌다. 절 관계자들은 모두 대웅전에서 떨어진 곳에 머물고 있었기에 인명피해는 없었다.

대웅전 화재는 보안경비회사에서 급히 연락 받은 절의 관리자 중 한 명이 순찰을 돌던 중 발견되었다. 발견된 시점은 새벽 두 시 경이었으며, 화재는 출동한 소방대원들에 의해 두 시간 뒤 진압되었다.

CCTV 판독 결과 전기난로에서 발화가 일어난 것으로 추정된다. 국립과학수사연구원에서 좀 더 조사를 할 예정이다.

내장사는 636년 건립되었으며, 현재의 대웅전은 1958년 지어졌다. 내장산은 단풍놀이 상당히 유명한 관광지로 꼽힌다.
