Police said Saturday they have detained a teenager on charges of raping and beating to death a 46-year-old woman he met in a nightclub in southern South Korea.

The 18-year-old, identified only by his surname Suh, admitted to the crime, saying he was angry as the woman refused to have sex with him, police said. The victim's identity was withheld.

According to police, Suh met and drank with her in a nightclub in the southern city of Jinju, some 285 km southeast of Seoul. He allegedly raped and beat her to death in a small space between buildings around 5:20 a.m. on Thursday.

Police arrested him at an Internet cafe on Friday night, and plan to seek a formal arrest warrant for him later Saturday.

After the crime, Suh acted normally, going to movies with his girlfriend and playing computer games, police said.

The victim's body was left unnoticed for about 30 hours until a resident in the area found it, police said. (Yonhap News)

경찰은 금요일 밤 PC방에 있던 서씨를 발견했다.

범죄를 저지른 후에도 서씨는 자신의 여자친구와 영화를 보러 가거나 컴퓨터게임을 하는 등 일상생활을 그대로 유지했다고 경찰은 밝혔다.
