Booyoung Group Chairman Lee Joong-keun has pledged to make a donation for the construction of a social contribution center on Seoul National University campus, the university said Wednesday.
The 10 billion won in construction costs will be fully covered by the donation, and the university has decided to name the building the Woojung Global Social Contribution Center after Lee’s pen name, Woojung.
The center will be built near a university gymnasium by 2013 as a five-story 6,600-square-meter facility. It will house classrooms for education on social contribution programs, a memorial hall, conference rooms, and video seminar rooms.

Inspired by Lee’s donation for the center, Seoul National University will expand social contribution programs while engaging more of its employees in the programs.
Booyoung Group has donated school buildings, senior citizens’ centers, public health centers, religious facilities and community centers across the country. The group has made social contributions abroad as well, constructing and donating elementary school buildings in Southeast Asia.
