The Korean Association of Foreign Language Academies is to hold a scenic stroll program on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. for both foreign residents and locals.

Dubbed “Seoul City Wall Night Walk,” the second charity walkathon was organized to allow foreigners living in Seoul to experience the city’s culture and learn about its history, said Hwang Sung-soon, president of the KAFLA. “Proceeds will go to building schools in poverty-stricken countries.”

About 1,000 are expected to walk the 8.8-kilometer route that starts at Cheonggyecheon Plaza and continues along Cheonggyecheon Stream, passing through Dongdaemun Market and reaching Naksan Park on each day of a full moon. The route covers spots with the most beautiful night scenes.

Marie J.H. Chung, vice chairman of the KAFLA, said the event would help English teachers in Korea to get a deeper understanding of Korea’s cultural heritage.

KAFLA held the first charity walkathon in Bukchon Hanok Village in May, attracting 1,200 foreign and Korean participants.
