Lisa of Blackpink generated 300 million streams on Spotify with her solo song, “Money,” in 112 days, the shortest time for a K-pop solo musician, according to label YG Entertainment.
 
The song, which ranked No. 93 on Billboard’s Hot 100 when it came out, is from her solo debut album, “Lalisa.” It also topped iTunes’ top songs chart in 72 regions.
 
Last month, the performance video for “Money” surpassed 300 million views on YouTube. It took 66 days for the video to reach the milestone, the shortest time for a K-pop dance video. The previous record holder was that of Blackpink’s “How You Like That,” at 76 days.

NCT127 extends Billboard 200 stay for another week

NCT 127 stayed on Billboard 200 with its third full album, “Sticker,” for the 14th week.
 
The LP ranked No. 85 on the chart and became the K-pop album that came out this year to stay for the longest period on the chart. In September, the album hit the chart at No. 3, the highest spot for a K-pop album from this year. The album and the repackaged version sold over 3.58 million copies combined.
 
Meanwhile, a remix version of title track “Sticker” was to be available late Thursday. It is part of label SM Entertainment’s remix project iScreaM.
 
Separately, NCT’s third full-length album, “Universe,” entered Billboard 200 as well at No. 20. The 13-track album has swept charts at home and abroad, topping iTunes’ top albums chart in 30 regions as well as Oricon’s weekly album chart last week.

Psy to put out 9th album next year

Psy announced that he will release his ninth studio album next year “no matter what.”
 
“I’ve had a lot planned for this year but decided not to put out the album thinking what meaning it would have without being able to host a concert. But next year, I will ... no matter what situation would be like,” said the musician in a music program that broadcast highlights from his 2019 concerts on Wednesday. His firm P Nation confirmed the statement Thursday.
 
His eighth LP, “4X2=8,” came out in 2017 and the ninth album was originally planned for a 2019 release.
 
“It has been two years since we realized how precious what we regarded as ordinary, normal. Hopefully, we could find what we lost over the two years back next year,” said Psy, vowing to put on a show that would make the audience ask for “more encores than ever.”

fromis_9 to put out 4th EP next month

Girl group fromis_9 is returning with its fourth EP, “Midnight Guest,” on Jan. 17, agency Pledis Entertainment announced Thursday.
 
The nine-member act uploaded a teaser video for the EP in which they sneaked out into the dark after Lee Seo-yeon cautiously peeked out a window.
 
It has been only four months since its special single, “Talk & Talk,” the first music the band put out after signing with Pledis Entertainment. With the single, it came in first place at a television music chart show for the first time.
 
In the meantime, “We Go,” the title track from its second single, “9 Way Ticket,” from May was made Billboard’s “25 Best K-pop Songs of 2021: Critics’ Picks” earlier this month.
