PRAGUE (AP) ― Usain Bolt says he will skip next week’s Golden Spike meet in the Czech city of Ostrava. In a message to organizers, Bolt said Sunday that “I will stay in Jamaica with my coach for an extra week to focus on training before coming to Europe.”
The Olympic champion was scheduled to anchor the sprint relay at the Czech meet. Bolt was in Jamaica to run at the national championships, winning the 100 meters on Friday in 9.94 seconds and is getting ready for European meets before the season culminates at the world championships in Moscow starting on Aug. 10.
