Six in 10 Korean office workers have their own place to go to escape from work, with most of them flocking to the bathroom for relaxation.

In a survey of 708 office workers conducted by job search engine Career, 61.1 percent of the respondents said they have a resting place at work.

Korean workers’ favorite spot was the bathroom, with 25.7 percent, followed by outside the building (14.3 percent), at the fire exit (13 percent) and on the terrace (11.4 percent).

Asked why they seek relaxation in a special place, about half said they either needed to vent (25.5 percent) or felt exhausted due to a heavy workload (24.3 percent).

Others just needed spare time (22.8 percent), or wanted to chat with colleagues in a comfortable environment (15.7 percent).

Most office workers were found to use their phone while resting: 22.6 percent of the respondents make calls or write text messages, with 22.3 percent surfing the Internet or playing a cellphone game during their breaks.

Nearly half answered that they go to a spot to rest three or four times a day and stay there for an average of 13 minutes.
