(코리아헤럴드=조지현 기자) KT는 현재 효율성과 회계 투명성을 강화하기 위해 3개 부문으로 나누어 사실상 독립채산제를 운영할 것으로 알려졌다.

KT의 한 고위관계자는 최근 기자들과 만나 “KT는 T&C, Customer, G&E으로 나뉜 부문 별로 재정 분리를 추진하고자 한다”고 했다.

사실상 독립채산제를 운영하여 회계 투명성을 강화하고 각 부문별로 효율성도 제고하겠다는 의지가 담긴 것으로 볼 수 있다.

이와 같은 시스템을 마련함으로써 60프로에 달했던 공통비를 올해 말까지 한 자릿수인 5프로대로 줄여보겠다는 것이다.

이와 같은 대대적인 혁신은 2010년 11월 KT가 중장기적인 BIT (Business Information Transformation) 프로젝트를 추진함으로써 가능해진 것으로 알려졌다.

BIT프로젝트는 KT와 구 KTF의 IT 인프라를 통합하는 초대형 프로젝트다.

KT to establish self-supporting accounting system

KT, the country’s No. 2 mobile carrier, is undergoing changes to establish a self-supporting accounting system that will improve efficiency and enhance financial transparency of the firm.

A key KT executive recently told a pool of reporters that the company was planning to run the new self-supporting accounting system for its three divisions -- Telecom & Convergence, Customer, and Global & Enterprise.

The divisions currently are headed by three different chiefs -- Pyo Hyun-myung for T&C, Seo Yu-yeol for Customer and Kim Hong-jin for G&E.

“With the new system in place, the common cost, which went up to as much as 60 percent, is expected to be reduced to a one-digit figure of about 5 percent by the end of this year,” said the executive. “The system will be fully in place by the first quarter of this year.”

The transformation, which is believed to be the first for a telecom in Korea, was made possible due to the introduction of the firm’s project called Business Information Transformation beginning in November 2010.

The project is a large-scale one that was taken forward to combine the information technology infrastructures of KT and KTF. The two companies merged in June 2009.
