A mother is facing up to 35 years in jail for third-degree murder after her 2-year-old daughter was strangled by a pet python that escaped from its terrarium, the Daily Mail reported.

Jaren Hare and her 34-year-old boyfriend, Jason Darnell, are charged with manslaughter and child abuse in the 2009 death of Shaianna Hare.

Documents reveal the couple had not fed the 2.6-meter Burmese python for a month before the accident and that the snake had escaped repeatedly.

Darnell told detectives the snake was in its tank when he went to bed that night. An hour later, he found the python in the hallway, stuffed it in a mesh bag and put it in its tanDarnell told investigators he found the snake coiled around Shaianna’s head, its fangs sunk into her forehead the next morning.

While the snake has been kept at a wildlife center since the incident, the animal is to be produced in court as evidence by photographs.

그 다음날 아침 다넬은 뱀이 샤이애너의 이마에 송곳니를 넣은 채 똬리를 틀어 감싸고 있는 것을 발견하고 바로 신고 했다고 밝혔다.

이 사건 이후 비단 뱀은 동물보호소에 맡겨졌으며 법정에서는 사진으로 증거 자료를 대신할 것이라 한다.
