A 17-year-old amateur popping, a form of street dance, performer became the final winner of tvN’s “Korea’s Got Talent” program on Saturday.

Ju Min-jeong received an enthusiastic applause after successfully showcasing her impressive routine at the Top 10 finalists’ round held at Kyung Hee University’s Grand Peace Palace in eastern Seoul. 

She was selected as the winner through the audience’s vote via mobile text messages. The prize includes 300 million won, an automobile and the opportunity to sign contract with Sony Music.

“With this event as a stepping stone, I hope to present viewers with unforgettable shows. I will show that anything can be done if you really try hard,” Ju told the press after the show, and added that she would like to establish a dance school in the future.

“I hope she shows the world that there is such a talent in Korea. And I already know she will,” said Kolleen Park, one of the show’s judges.

Second place went to Choi Seong-bong who attracted the world’s media attention after his life story was unveiled ― he lived from hand-to-mouth selling gum and working as a day laborer after he ran away from an orphanage at the age of 5.
