Authorities in Florida said a 49-year-old homeless man allegedly cheated Disney out of more than $18,000 by using the same credit card scam at least 26 times.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Jeffery Hawkins, 49 -- who was arrested Tuesday on charges of credit card fraud, trafficking in stolen credit cards and defrauding an innkeeper -- allegedly told deputies he has spent the past 10 years moving from hotel to hotel and booking rooms with stolen credit card numbers, the Orlando Sentinel reported Friday.

Deputies said Hawkins targeted Disney World hotels at least 26 times, bilking the company out of more than $18,000.

Investigators said Hawkins was in possession of more than 100 stolen credit card numbers.

"It's easy to commit fraud at Disney, and I have been here a lot," Hawkins allegedly told deputies. (UPI)

미국의 노숙인이 훔친 신용카드로 26번 이상 호텔료를 지불하다 적발됐다.

경찰은 지난 화요일(현지시각) 제프리 호킨스(49)를 신용카드 절도죄와 사기죄로 체포했다.

호킨스는 지난 10년간 호텔을 옮겨 다니며 훔친 신용카드의 번호를 사용해 호텔방을 예약했다고 시인했다.

경찰은 호킨스가 같은 수법을 통해 적어도 26번 이상 디즈니월드 호텔에 투숙했으며, 호텔요금은 총 18,000달러(약 1970만원)에 이른다고 말했다.

호킨스는 100장 이상의 훔친 신용카드를 소지하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

호킨스는 경찰에게 “디즈니에서 사기를 치는 건 쉬웠고 그곳에 자주 갔다”고 말한 것으로 알려졌다.
