‘보이스코리아2’ 코치진들, 각자의 스타일에 대해 말하다

가수 백지영과 강타, 길, 신승훈이 다시 한번 보이스코리아의 생방송 무대에 다시 돌아왔다. 네 코치들과 팀원들은 지난 금요일 생방송을 앞두고 고양 실내 체육관에서 라운드 인터뷰를 가졌다. 긴장한 모습이 역력한 얼굴들을 한 참가자들은 떨어질까 불안한 모습을 감추지 못했다. 백지영 코치의 팀원들 중 가장 어린 송푸름(23)양은 생방송 무대를 앞둔 다짐에 대해 이야기 하다가 눈물을 보여 백지영이 달래주기도 했다.

백지영은 “푸름이가 왜 지금 우는지 이해하기 힘드실 거다”며 “이 자리에 있기까지 개인적으로도 많은 힘든 일들이 있었다”고 설명했다. 또 “무대 위에 올라가면 노래만 하는 게 다가 아니다. 본인의 개인적인 문제들도 같이 따라온다. 노래를 하는 중이라고 해서 사생활이 잊혀지는 건 아니다”고 말했다.

발라드 여왕은 이 자리에서 자신의 팀원들에게 무대를 장악하려고 하는 것 보단 무대에서 진심을 전달하는 것이 중요하다고 조언했다.

이어 “본인이 얼마나 잘 한다고 생각 하던 간에 진심을 담아 노래하지 않는다면, 아무 의미가 없다. 이게 내가 가르치려고 했던 거다”며 본인의 코칭 스타일에 대해 설명했다.

“무한도전”에 나와 코믹하고 가벼워 보일지 모르는 길 코치 역시 코치로써의 역할에는 늘 진지하게 임했다. 길은 본인은 “아마 팀원들에게 조금 못된 코치 일거다”며 “굉장히 힘든 과제들을 짧은 시간 안에 하도록 한다”고 밝히며 큰 웃음을 지었다

이에 그의 팀원들은 그들 역시 길 코치의 진지한 모습에 놀랐었지만, 연습 밖에서는 방송에서처럼 늘 재미있고 유쾌했다고 밝혔다.

길은 “아이들이 처음보다 많은 발전을 했다. 내 덕분에 음악적으로 많은걸 배우고 성장했다고 해줄 때 너무 감사하다”고 말했다.

신승훈 코치와 강타 코치는 본인들은 친구처럼 다가가는 스타일이라고 밝히며 방송에서의 결과와 상관없이 자신들의 팀원들처럼 음악에 대한 열정과 끼로 가득 찬 친구들은 앞으로도 많은 기회가 있을 것 이라며 팀원들에 대한 애착을 감추지 못했다. 

신승훈은 “굉장히 다재 다능한 친구들이기에 앞으로 많은 기회가 있을 것이라 생각된다”며 “저번 시즌에서 중간에 탈락한 친구들 역시 그 후 꿈에 더욱 가까워지는 기회들이 많았다”고 설명했다.

마지막으로 강타는 “나는 옆에서 격려해주는 사람이다. 무작정 어떻게 하라고 내 생각을 강요하지 않고 친구처럼 대하려고 노력했다고” 밝혔다.

이날 총 4명의 참가자들이 탈락하며 8명의 준결승 진출자들을 남겼다. 준결승은 오는 금요일 생방송으로 진행될 예정이다.

’Voice of Korea’ judges share coaching techniques

     Music survival program’s second season down to 8 finalists

Singers Baek Ji-young, Kangta, Gill and Shin Seung-Hun have returned to the second round of “The Voice of Korea 2” live showcase showdowns. The coaches and their remaining trainees got together during a round interview held at the Goyang Sports Complex in Ilsan on Friday and shared their thoughts on coaching the young star hopefuls.

The nerves on the faces of all of the contestants were transparent, and the thought of elimination was daunting: Young Song Poo-reum couldn’t hold back her tears as she looked to her coach for support.

“It’ll be very difficult for you to understand why she is crying right now,” said coach Baek. “But it’s a big struggle for her both professionally and personally to be here because she has been through so much.”

“When you get up on the stage, it’s not just about singing,” Baek went on to explain. “All your personal situations and struggles come with you because it’s not something that you can just ignore and push aside just because you’re singing.”

One of the key messages that the popular ballad singer tries to convey to her trainees is the importance of not just running around trying to take command of the stage, but being able to express genuine emotions while performing.

“It’s not just about getting onto the stage and bellowing out,” she said. “No matter how good you think you are, if you don’t sing from the heart, it has no meaning; and these are some of the things that I try to teach them.”

Coach Gill is known by many for his comedic antics from the popular reality program “Infinite Challenge.” Although be may be seen by most as a fun TV personality, when it comes to his responsibilities as a singing coach, he takes a more serious approach.

“For me, I think I can be a bit of an ass to my trainees,” he said with a big smile. “I assign them very difficult tasks and give them a very short time in which I want them to complete them.”

His trainees revealed that they too were surprised to learn of their coach’s serious demeanor, but also assured that when they are not training, he is just as fun and light-hearted as he appears of TV.

“They have (trainees) made so much progress since they’ve been here. I am very grateful when they say that they have grown and learned musically because of me,” he said.

Coach Shin and coach Kangta admitted that they tend to take the “friend” approach by assuring their trainees that no matter the results of the show, there are still plenty of opportunities for talented people such as themselves to pursue their musical dreams.

“These are very talented people so I think they do have a lot of other chances ahead of them with regards to their future,” said Shin. “Even those contestants who failed in the past season, they still went on to do great things with their careers.”

“I am a supporter and to me coaching is like a partnership,” said former H.O.T star Kangta. “I think it’s important not to come across as dictating what I think they have to do and think of them as a sort of friend.”

Four contestants were eliminated during last’s week’s quarter finals, leaving eight contestants remaining. The semi-final round will be held this Friday, where four more contenders will be dropped before the season finale on May 31.
