U.S. actress Kristen Stewart publicly apologized for cheating on her boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, with the married director of “Snow White and the Huntsman.”

The longtime couple are the stars of the romantic “Twilight” vampire film franchise and have been dating for several years.

Several media outlets reported Tuesday Stewart, 22, recently had a brief fling with director Rupert Sanders, who is 41, married and the father of two children. TMZ said Stewart publicly confirmed the affair Wednesday and apologized to Pattinson, 26.

“I‘m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” the actress said. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I‘m so sorry.”

Sanders issued a separate statement to People.com Wednesday.

“I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family,” said Sanders, who is married to actress-model Liberty Ross. “My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”(UPI)

스튜어트는 피플지와의 인터뷰에서 “내가 저지른 당황스러운 일로 많은 사람에게 상처를 준 것에 대해 깊이 사과한다”며 “이 순간적인 경솔한 행동은 내 삶의 가장 중요한 것, 내가 가장 사랑하고 존경하는 사람인 로버트와의 관계를 위태롭게 만들었다”고 말했다.

샌더스 감독 역시 공식 성명을 발표하고 가족들에게 사과했다.

그는 모델 출신 아내와 7년간 결혼 생활을 유지하고 있으며, 두 아이를 둔 유부남으로 충격을 더했다.
