Testimony of physical abuse between members of girl group T-ara from a supposed insider has aggravated earlier claims of bullying in the group.

A self-proclaimed member of T-ara’s dance team Yama & HotChicks claimed online that Hwa-young, a recently departed member of T-ara who joined after the group’s initial success, had been ridiculed and even assaulted by other members.

Two of the members allegedly mocked Hwa-young when she made mistakes during a rehearsal, and one of them is alleged to have slapped her in the face and said, “You should do better since you’ve jumped on the bandwagon.”

On Tuesday, Core Contents Media, the group’s agency, denied the claims.

“Assault is not possible, given that the rehearsal was carried out at a place where outsiders had full access to,” said the agency.

However, Internet users expressed their disbelief about the explanation and demanded that the agency reveal the truth about Hwa-young’s departure from the group.

After a string of online rumors that claimed Hwa-young was being bullied by other T-ara members, Core Contents announced Monday that it was canceling her contract.

The company did not give specific reasons for Hwa-young’s departure, leading to uproar from fans.

In just three days, nearly 300,000 people joined the website “We demand the truth from T-ara”, which demands that the agency and the group reveal the full facts concerning the bullying incident.

In addition, online T-ara fan club Mystique has begun opposing the group it once supported.

The group debuted in 2009, and has enjoyed major success in South Korea and other Asian countries, solidifying its place as one of the leading Korea girl groups.

티아라 ‘왕따설’ 점입가경, "화영 뺨 맞아"

멤버들 사이의 집단따돌림 설에 이은 멤버 퇴출로 곤혹을 치르고 있는 티아라가 최근 제기된 ‘구타설’ 등을 강력하게 부인하고 나섰다.

티아라의 소속사 코어콘텐츠 미디어 측은 31일 공식 보도자료를 통해 ‘최근 제기된 연습실 구타 사건은 사실무근’이라고 밝혔다.

문제의 글은 스스로를 티아라의 안무팀 야마&핫칙스의 댄서라고 밝힌 네티즌이 올린 것으로 “안무연습 도중 (전 멤버) 화영이 안무를 틀리자 다른 멤버들이 비웃고, 한 멤버는 ‘숟가락 얹었으면 눈치껏 잘하라’며 뺨을 때렸다’는 내용이 실려있다.

코어콘텐츠 측은 안무팀의 배윤정 단장의 말을 인용하며 이러한 사건이 일어난 적이 없으며, 연습실은 외부 사람들도 출입하는 곳이라 구타 사건이 있을 수 없다고 주장했다.

또한 이 글을 올린 사람 역시 백댄서가 아닌 일반인이고, 그 외에 자신이 티아라 멤버에게 구타를 당한 2년차 연습생이라고 주장한 네티즌의 글 역시 허구라며 허위사실 유포에 대해 법적 대응까지 불사하겠다며 강경한 의지를 밝혔다.

그러나 이러한 해명에도 불구하고 많은 네티즌들은 ‘사실을 전부 밝히라’고 요구하고 있다.

코어콘텐츠는 30일 기자회견을 통해 ‘태도문제’를 이유로 멤버 화영의 계약을 해지하겠다고 발표했으나, 일각에서는 발표 며칠 전부터 불거진 ‘화영 왕따설’이 이유가 아니냐고 의혹의 시선을 보내고 있다.

티아라 측에 멤버 탈퇴의 전모를 밝히라고 요구하는 인터넷 카페 ‘티진요(티아라에게 진실을 요구합니다)’에는 개설한지 3일만에 30만에 가까운 회원들이 가입했고, 심지어 티아라의 인터넷 팬 카페 중 하나인 ‘미스틱’은 티아라 안티카페로 돌아서기까지 한 상태이다.

그 동안 큰 인기를 끌어온 티아라로서는 한 순간에 등을 돌린 팬들의 마음을 사야 하는 과제가 생긴 셈이다.
