Two South Korean soccer teams will battle this week for a berth in the semifinals of the top Asian club competition.

FC Seoul will host Pohang Steelers on Wednesday at Seoul World Cup Stadium in the second leg of their quarterfinals in the AFC Champions League. The kickoff will be 7:30 p.m.

The all-K League Classic showdown opened with a scoreless draw last Wednesday. The aggregate score determines the winner in the home-and-away series, but since neither team could find the back of the net in the opening match, the winner on Wednesday will automatically advance to the semifinals. FC Seoul finished the runner-up to Guangzhou Evergrande of China at last year’s AFC Champions League. Pohang is seeking its first AFC crown since 2009.

The winner of the FC Seoul-Pohang series will next take on the winner of the quarterfinals between Guangzhou and Western Sydney Wanderers of Australia.

The Australian club stunned the defending AFC champion 1-0 last week at home.

FC Seoul is the club on a roll, with just one loss in its last 10 matches in the second half of the season after the World Cup break. (Yonhap)
