Crayon Pop accused of plagiarism again
Crayon Pop has found itself in yet another plagiarism scandal as some suspect the K-pop girl group ripped off the melody of a theme song from a Japanese animation.
South Korean websites were abuzz on Friday over whether the group’s Christmas single, “Ccoohristmas,” copied the intro of the theme song from “Lupin III.” a popular comic book and animation series about a fictional thief.
Crayon Pop’s management agency Chrome Entertainment said it is trying to contact the song’s writer, and remained mum on the accusations.
The group had already been receiving suspicious stares for supposedly being a copycat of Japanese girl group Momoiro Clover Z.
Last month, Chrome Entertainment released a teaser image of the group dressed up resembling Christmas trees. Soon after the release, a photo taken last year of Momoiro Clover Z surfaced, which featured its members wearing similar Christmas tree outfits.
