South Korean dance teams will tour three Central and South American countries from June 1 to 18 to perform dances of Korea from traditional and contemporary dances to hip-hop, organizers said Monday.

The Jeon Eun-ja Dance Company, Second Nature Dance Company, Dance Company Medius, Project Company House of Blue and Moves Collector’s Dance Company will participate in the tour of six cities in Cuba, Colombia and Ecuador under the “Korean Dances Express in Cuba and South America” program organized by the Korea Foundation and the Korea Headquarters of CID-UNESCO.

In Cuba, the Korean dance groups will perform in Havana and Pinar del Rio. They will then go to Cali, Ecuador, to participate in the sixth Inco Ballet Festival. Teams from Canada, Cuba, Spain, Brazil, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, the Czech Republic and Colombia will also take part in the festival.

The Korean dance teams will also perform in two international dance festivals in the Ecuadorian cities of Guayakuil and Cuenca, and also hold workshops for local dancers on Korean traditional and b-boy dance styles.

The program was organized as a follow-up to Korean dance performances in Cuba the two organizations hosted in April of last year. The program is part of the Korea Foundation’s culture and arts exchange partnership project.
