South Korean actor Go Joo-won has been accused of being involved in an assault at a Gangnam club, police said Monday.
According to Seoul Gangnam Police Station, Go was involved in an altercation at a club in the Gangnam district of Seoul with another person last Wednesday.
Go was visiting the club with friends to celebrate his birthday.
The man, identified by his surname Bang, claimed that Go and two friends attacked him and fled the scene after the police were notified of the incident.
Go’s agency, TnC Entertainment, said he and his friends were involved in the fight after Bang allegedly sexually assaulted a member of Go’s party.
Go’s friends told the actor to leave in consideration of his celebrity status, said the agency.
“Bang and his friends are trying to hide their assault and pretend to be the victims. We will file defamation suits against the person who first reported the false claim to the media,” said the agency.
The 32-year-old actor recently starred in TV drama “You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin,” which ended on Aug. 25.
