Woo Jin-yung, 53, has been appointed as the new director of Korean Culture and Information Service, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Thursday.
Woo previously served as the head of the National Library of Korea from October 2010.
He worked at various departments at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. He also served as the head of the Korean Cultural Center in New York.
KOCIS was established in 1971 as the Overseas Information Center under the Ministry of Culture and Information to boost the national image and introduce Korean culture to the world.
