The internationally popular America pop/folk singer John Mayer will be making his way to Seoul on May 6 to put on his first concert performance in Korea since he made his musical debut more than 10 years ago.

The upcoming concert event is the 14th installment of the Hyundai Card Culture Project series, which in the past brought acts such as The Killers, Keane, John Legend, Ke$ha, Jason Mraz, Kraftwerk, Mika and Damien Rice.

After an appearance at the annual South by Southwest showcase in Austin, Texas, in March 2000 landed him a record deal, Mayer released his official debut album “Room for Squares” in 2001. The album surprisingly launched a number of hit singles including “No Such Thing,” “Why Georgia” and “Your Body Is a Wonderland,” which snagged Mayer his first Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 2003.

In 2003 he also released his second studio album “Heavier Things” and went multiplatinum. Although the follow-up album did not share the commercial success of “Room for Squares,” it did reach the No. 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart. Mayer earned his first No. 1 single with his hit “Daughters,” which also earned him another Grammy Award in 2005 for Song of the Year, beating out big names Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Hoobastank and Tim McGraw.

Mayer went on to release “Continuum” (2006), “Battle Studies” (2009), “Born and Raised” (2012) and his latest album “Paradise Valley,” released in August last year. The album debuted at No. 2 on Billboard and features lead singles “Paper Doll,” “Wildfire” and “Who You Love.”

John Mayer will perform on May 6 at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul. Tickets for the show will go on sale Feb. 11 for Hyundai Card members and the following day for the general public. Ticket prices are listed between 110,000 won and 132,000 won, with a special “couple package” listed at 300,000 won.
