A British girl has developed a storybook-like relationship with an abandoned fox club, the Daily Mail reported Monday.

According to the newspaper, 7-year-old Lydia Dimmock found the whelp around May when it was discarded by its parents shortly after birth.

Lydia named male fox "Foxy Loxy" and started to feed it milk and bread every night. Their friendship took off since.

“Lydia loves the fox and the feeling seems mutual,” said Lydia’s mother Zillah Dimmock. “... We are always with her when she plays outside, but they are inseparable.”

Lydia, whose dream is to become a vet, said she and her furry new friend enjoy having a little singing session together.

“I make up songs and sing to him and he barks back. I love seeing him,” Lydia said.

Her mother said the fox always comes out of his hiding when Lydia starts to sing, and they play games together. The baby fox even jumps alongside Lydia as she plays on the trampoline.

Such a fond relationship between a fox and a human is extremely rare, since foxes are generally wary of humans. While Foxy Loxy shows no hint of a threat yet, Lydia’s parents said they remain with their little girl at all times when she’s with the fox.

“제가 짧은 노래를 만들어서 불러주면, (여우가) 같이 짖어줘요”라고 아이는 설명했다.

일반적으로 야생 여우는 사람에 대한 경계심이 많아 사람과 이런 식으로 친하게 되는 경우는 매우 드물다고 한다. 리디아의 부모는 비록 폭시 록시가 위협적인 행동을 전혀 하지 않고 있지만, 만일의 경우를 생각해 아이가 여우가 놀고 있을 때 항상 옆에서 지켜보고 있다고 밝혔다.
