Kangbuk Samsung Medical Center said Tuesday that it had appointed family practitioner Dr. Shin Ho-cheol as its new chief. Shin’s term begins today.
The eighth chief of one of the nation’s largest hospital networks graduated from Seoul National University in 1982 and received his doctorate at the same school.
He served high-ranking positions in the hospital including head of the family practice division and clinical experiment auditory board. He also chaired the Korean Academy of Family Medicine and the Korean Society of Stress Medicine.
Shin received a presidential honor in 2011 for his research and treatment of cancer.
