The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea in Gwacheon, south of Seoul, will hold a summer culture festival on Saturday nights, featuring music concerts, movie screenings and performances in its outdoor sculpture garden. 

The festival titled “Kill Your Stress, Heal Your Heart” aims to let visitors fight off stress through participating in a variety of cultural events and recharge themselves in natural surroundings. Various programs run from 5-10 p.m. on Saturdays from Aug. 11-25.

It will feature indie bands performing various music genres ranging from rock, ska to electronics. The list of groups includes Kingston Rudieska, Rose Inn and Telepathy as well as bossa nova singer-songwriter Na Hee-kyung. 

Two indie rock bands, Wiretap in My Ear and Linus’ Blanket, will open the festival this Saturday, followed by a screening of Korean animation film “Leafie, A Hen into the Wild.” The film will be shown on a “barrier-free” screen, which offers Korean subtitle and audio services for hearing and visually impaired viewers.

On Aug. 18, the ska band Kingston Rudieska and electronic rock band Telepathy will keep the festive mood, accompanied by short animated films.

On Aug. 25, singer Na will offer a rare chance for the audience to listen to Brazilian bossa nova while up-and-coming indie band Rose Inn will perform retro-style music.

The festival ends with “Crossroads of Youth,“ the country’s oldest surviving silent film. The film directed in 1934 will be screened accompanied by live music and narration.

The NOMCA will open special exhibitions “The Move: Art and Dance since the 1960s” and “Ha, Chong Hyun Retrospective” for free to visitors during the London Olympic period till Aug. 12.

Throughout the festival, free donuts and drinks will be offered to visitors.
