Fans of the acclaimed fashion photographer Helmut Newton now get the chance to see a book of his most famous works.
The Helmut Newton photo book, the largest and the most expensive book to be published in the 20th century, and nine other rare books are on display at AK Plaza in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, through Sept. 6 as part of the “AK Book Festival.”
Newton, a German-Australian photographer who died in 2004, is one of the most prominent figures in fashion photography known for his compelling, sensational and erotic works. The book of photography on display at AK Plaza measures 52 cm by 72 cm and weighs 30 kg. The book is valued at 15 million won ($13,220).
Other limited edition large books on show include “Ando, Art Edition” and “Kate Moss by Mario Testino,” which are valued at 1 million won and 4 million won, respectively.
The total price of the 10 books on display amounts to 34 million won. A book-talk session by a well-known author as well as an autograph signing event will also take place.
Bestsellers, classics, self-improvement books and children books are sold at discounts of up to 70 percent at a book bazaar that is part of the book festival. All proceeds from the bazaar will be donated to support the building of a library in Seongnam.
