YG, 미국에 YG랜드 만든다

싸이, 빅뱅의 소속사 YG엔터테인먼트가 미국에 ‘YG 랜드’(가칭)를 설립하고 북미 진출을 위한 기반을 마련한다고 7일 밝혔다.

YG는 미국 부동산 개발 및 운영 업체 ‘M+D 프라퍼티스’(Properties)가 2015년 오픈을 목표로 개발 중인 캘리포니아주 오렌지 카운티의 다문화복합단지 ‘더 소스’(The Source)에 공동 사업 파트너로 참여해 이곳에 ‘YG 랜드’를 선보인다.

YG는 ‘더 소스’에 확보한 공간을 ‘YG 랜드’로 가칭하고 녹음실, 연습실 등 콘텐츠 제작 인프라를 구축한다. 현지에서 제작부터 공연, 홍보 및 다양한 연관 사업까지 가능한 ‘올 인 원’(All-In-One) 시스템을 갖춰 진출을 위한 전진 기지로 만들 예정이다.

또 이곳에서 LED, 전광판, 빌보드 등의 매체를 통해 YG 브랜드와 싸이, 빅뱅, 투애니원 등 글로벌 스타들의 다양한 콘텐츠를 홍보할 예정이다.

YG는 “최근 ‘M+D 프라퍼티스와 상호 협약식을 가졌다”며 “향후 F&B 프랜차이즈 공동 기획 및 개발, 호텔•쇼핑•공연을 아우르는 패키지 관광 사업 등 양사의 역량을 활용할 수 있는 다양한 사업 추진을 위해 협의해 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다. (연합)

YG Entertainment looks to U.S. with ‘YG Land’

YG Entertainment, home to several k-pop musicians including Psy and Big Bang, announced Friday that it would establish a base in the United States for its artists as part of efforts to strengthen its presence in North America.

The entertainment powerhouse plans to partner up with the U.S. real estate developer M+D Properties to open “YG Land” in the multi-entertainment space “The Source.” The building complex, currently under construction, is set to open in Orange County, California, in 2015.

“YG Land” will be equipped with the infrastructure for developing content including a recording studio and training room, which will serve as a base for YG artists to advance into the U.S. market by localizing their activities.

“YG Entertainment will closely work in partnership with M+D Properties to push for a variety of co-projects covering tourism package products, hotels, shopping and performances,” YG Entertainment said.
