The World Cancer Research Fund advised people to curb intake of beef, pork, lamb and processed meat including ham and salami, media reported last week.

Researchers at Imperial College London studied a total of 263 theses about the role of diet, weight and physical activity in bowel cancer and found significant evidence suggesting that red or processed meat could increase the risk of prevalence.

In its 850 ― page report, the group advised people to limit consumption of meat to 500 grams of red meat per week and avoid processed meat.

The number of bowel cancer patients marked 85,350 in 2009 in Korea, making it the third most diagnosed cancers following stomach and thyroid cancers.
