Korean Air Lines Co., South Korea’s top air carrier, said it has agreed with Boeing Co., the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer, to build Asia’s largest flight training center in South Korea.
The 21,940 square meter-flight simulator training center will be built in Yeongjongdo, home to Incheon International Airport, South Korea’s main gateway, by February 2015, Korean Air said.
Korean Air and Boeing plan to invest 61.6 billion ($56 million) and 30 billion won in the project, respectively.
Korean Air said it plans to allow other local airlines to use the facility.
The agreement comes weeks after the two sides signed a memorandum of understating to strengthen cooperation on rotor-craft, fixed-wing aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and military aircraft maintenance. (Yonhap News)
